How to make Paneer cheese

Goal: To make cheese using milk and lemon juice

You will need:
  • 1L dark blue top milk
  • 2T lemon juice
  • Glass bowl
  • Slotted spoon
  • Cheese cloth
  • 2x plates
  • Weight (a brick, a rock or a basin of water)
  • Microwave
1. Place 1L dark blue milk into the glass bowl.
2.Heat on high for 4 minutes.
3.Remove from microwave and stir in 2t lemon juice.
4.Heat in the microwave on high for further minutes,the milk and lemon juice mixture will curdle.
5.Line the cheese mould with the cheesecloth and spoon the curds into it.
6.Twist the top of the cheese cloth to squeeze out any excess liquid.
7. Put the cheese cloth wrapped paneer onto a plate and slightly flatten
8.Place the second plate on top. With a weight sitting on top of this to help drain any remaining whey.
9. Refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes.
10. The paneer is now ready to taste.
